Live: Nifty Likely to Witness a Flat Opening on Mixed Asian Cues


Sharemasterindia.com 9:09 a.m.: Sensex advanced 26 points to 27,986 and Nifty jumped 10 points to 8,470 in the pre-market session.

9:04 a.m.: Gaurang Shah of Geojit BNP Paribas says that this time Street expectation from earnings is very low and if companies underperform on the earnings front, then negativity on the markets will be relatively low.

9:00 a.m.: Rupee opens lower at 63.57 per dollar against Monday's close of 63.51.

8:40 a.m.: Credit Suisse has downgraded Eicher Motors, Bajaj Finance, Page Industries and Thermax. Credit Suisse says that there is sharp performance divergence within these companies. The brokerage adds that Bajaj Finance and Eicher Motors are downgraded as these stocks have become over-priced. Thermax's downgrade is driven by its exposure to steel and cement capex. Brokerage advises its clients to switch to M&M Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints and L&T.
 8:30 a.m.: DCB and NIIT Technologies will come out with their first quarter results later in the day. Here's what analysts polled by NDTV expect from these companies in Q1 of FY16:

DCB Bank: DCB Bank is expected to post net interest income of Rs 139.6 crore compared to Rs 139.1 crore during the same period last year. Net profit is expected to come in at Rs 43.3 crore versus Rs 44.7 crore. Loan and deposit growth is expected at 30 per cent and 25 per cent each respectively. Gross non-performing assets are expected at 1.9 per cent of total advances compared to 1.8 per cent in the previous quarter.

NIIT Technologies: NIIT Technologies is expected to post net sales of Rs 635 crore compared to Rs 611 crore. PAT is expected to come in at Rs 48 crore versus Rs 62 crore.

8:20 a.m.: Below are the stocks which will be in focus today:

HCL Technologies: HCL Technologies plans to acquire certain assets of US-based Trygstad. Trygstad is a niche engineering services company which does a lot of work for Microsoft which key client of HCL Tech. Size of the deal is to be below $50 million and the deal with Trygstad will be an all cash deal.

Essel Propack: Essel Propack has sold 100 per cent stake in Packaging India its wholly owned subsidiary. Stake was sold for enterprise value of Rs 170 crore in an all-cash deal. Packaging India was acquired in 2006 to diversify into packaging operations. Packaging India contributed 11 per cent towards total revenues.

Lupin, Novartis: Both these companies will go ex-dividend today.

Dr Reddy's Labs: DRL has launched Memantine Hydrochloride tablets in US. Memantine hydrochloride tablets are used for treatment of dementia and Memantine Hydrochloride is a generic version of nNamenda.

State Bank of India: SBI has tied up with BankBazaar.com for home loans.

TCS: TCS has announced premier partnership with Adobe. Partnership with Adobe will be for digital marketing solutions.

GMR Infra: Reports suggest that GMR Infra is in race for development of five airports in Philippines worth $2.4 billion.

Titagarh Wagons: Titagarh Wagons has closed its qualified institutional placement. Issue price for QIP is at Rs 99.41/share and has allotted up to 1.51 crore shares worth Rs 150 crore to qualified institutional buyers.

Ashiana Housing: Ashiana Housing has signed development pact with Bengal Shriram Hi Tech City.

NALCO: Nalco has signed R&D pact with Rio Tinto Alcan.

8:05 a.m.: The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) purchased Indian shares worth Rs 527.9 crore while domestic institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 171.5 crore.

In the derivative segment, the FIIs purchased index futures worth Rs 15 crore while stock futures worth Rs 670 crore.

7:50 a.m.: The Sensex and Nifty are likely to witness a flat opening in trades today on the back of mixed Asian cues and subdued trading of Nifty on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

The Nifty traded on the Singapore Stock Exchange also known as the SGX NIfty was down 0.01 per cent at 8,483.50.

Other Asian markets were also trading on a mixed note. The Hang Seng was down 0.5 per cent, Shanghai Shenzen index fell 0.5 per cent, Shanghai Composite was up 0.06 per cent while Japan's Nikkei advanced 1.45 per cent.

The rally in Japnese stocks came after eurozone leaders struck a deal Monday on a bailout to prevent Greece crashing out of the eurozone while forcing Athens to push through tough reforms within days.
